Global "Melting"

Certainly reasonable people can agree to disagree on whether or not there is a true "Global Warming," complete with all the natural, historical, political and geographical implications. So whether or not you wish to subscribe to the current and common opinions concerning the matter, perhaps you would be willing to agree that there is some serious melting going on around much of the world where we would probably all rather the melting would stop. Not that any of us thinks the world should stand still or cease and desist on its march toward exciting change heading into the future. But, hey, save the Polar Bears, the Penguins, and maintain ocean levels that don't necessarily re-submerge Florida back into another era all together- you get the idea.

So what's really to blame for all the recognized melting that is, undeniably, taking place? It turns out that, once again, Florida is in the hot seat. We were shocked and horrified to find out that apparently, grocery stores in Florida, particularly those in the Keys, are importing gigantic chunks of glacial material from Alaska so that they can be melted in attractive machines designed to sell the pure water that results to unsuspecting patrons in the beverage isle. Such a machine was discovered in the Publix store in Key Largo on December 15, 2007. At the current rate of the increasing popularity of these machines, the world's ice caps will be gone within.....well, .....sometime sooner rather than later.

Hi Greg: Just happened onto your blog as I was looking for info on Econofina FL. I've enjoyed your morphing into full-timing. We're about to make the step. With a 36 foot monster and an 88 year old husband (I'm not far behind), it's kind of scary. Didn't have a house to sell, but we were worried about ridding ourselves of the boat. Success! I've noted a bunch of addresses and hope that "Betty Lou" (our GPS)will get us around. Enjoyed your bit on Venice (lived there long time.) We leave VT in Feb 1 for as long as we can. Thanks for an interesting blog and some terrific pics. Abby looks like a golden. My golden was Fred, but I have a daughter named Abby. Keep on rolling...
